At The PULSE Institute we train people in the art and the science of conversation. P.U.L.S.E. is a Frame for structuring conversations for resolution. PULSE Practitioners have the skills and the confidence gained through practice to empower others to resolve their differences, and to structure conversations for collaborative decision making. 

We offer a number of flexible, inclusive, learner-focused and practical training programs for the workplace. Graduates of our training programs, PULSE Practitioners, learn

  • How to structure conversations and meetings for effective collaborative decision-making.
  • How to listen for understanding, and how to speak to be understood.
  • How to empower others to resolve their own differences.
  • When and how to intervene in workplace disputes.
  • How the dynamics of conflict affect conversation and relationships.

We offer in-house training programs for up to 20 people, ideally suited for new and prospective supervisors, and offering the skilled manager an opportunity to refresh skills, gain valuable self-insight, and practice dealing with difficult situations.

Workplace Training and Consulting  

PULSE Conversations (2 days)
Gain a new understanding of how conflict affects you and your relationships, and the confidence to manage difficult conversations in the workplace. Learn the theory, elements and cycles of conflict and learn the PULSE frame for conversations through demonstration, explanation, imitation and practice.
PULSE Concepts  (2 days)
Learn and understand the PULSE Frame for conversations. You will gain a comprehensive, coherent communication skill set which will enable you to become an effective agent of change.
PULSE Practice (3 days)
An opportunity to  practice each stage of the PULSE Frame individually, and put it all together from beginning to end in role play with coaches.
Coaching for Performance, Powered by PULSE (2 days)
Gain understanding of the principles, and through practice gain confidence in leading an effective coaching conversation. The PULSE coach asks positive questions, leading to positive change. The PULSE coach is detached (but not disinterested), emotionally mature, loyal to the process, trustworthy and aware. The PULSE coach holds a safe space for speaking and listening, ensuring the client will be heard and understood. The PULSE Coach holds the client capable of resolving their own circumstances, and understands they are doing the best with what they know.
40º in Conversation: A Study of Nine Perspectives (3 days)
Founded in the Enneagram, the PULSE motivation typing system uses a geographic metaphor to understand personality, motivation and behaviour in conversation. Join us to explore the BEACHs of PULSE Island. Gain practical skills for dealing with difficult people in conversation, and learn more about the motivations of yourself and others.
