Many people benefit from using the PULSE Frame:
Prepare, Uncover, Learn, Search, Explain

Writers.

Nancy used the PULSE Frame to organize and structure her book PULSE Conversations for Change and her dissertation Accountability and Change.

Trainers.

The structure is also used to organize training workships. Five-day workshops devote one day per element. In terms of structuring learning, PULSE is used to prepare means, uncover mystery, learn meaning, search methods and explain means again.

Planners.

PULSE, as a strategic planning tool, has its roots in the Canadian Forces battle planning procedures and can be used to plan and execute any kind of event. We have worked with project managers to integrate the concepts into their work so that they can avoid distractions and delays by being proactive in planning conversations. It is used to organize meetings and interface with contractors using PULSE's within PULSE's.

Negotiators.

The PULSE Frame offers a simple yet effective structure for "getting to yes". PULSE negotation is efficient and effective because the work is done beforehand, following the frame to prepare both the parties and the negotiator.

Mediators.

When there is anger, there is conflict and some conflicts need the intervention of a professional. The PULSE Frame evolved from the five stage models of interest-based mediation.

Managers.

Another application for the PULSE Frame is a structure for Appreciative Inquiry, a tool used in organizational development that focusses on questions and responses on the positive aspects of an organization to promote positive change.

Evidence of unresolved conflict and unchanigng defensive routines exist in almost every organization. The PULSE Frame provides a structure for doing just that.

Coaches.

As a frame for a coaching conversation, PULSE has many advantages: it holds the client capable, builds on the strength and knowledge of the individual, covers the past circumstance, the present impact, and criteria for better futures and the possibilities for futures as well.

Facilitators.

A PULSE Facilitation is a mediation with more people in the room. The intent of the each of the phases remains the same, and the outcome is sustainable, feasible and doable.

Meeting Chairs.

Any meeting will benefit from the use of the PULSE Frame to structure the conversation, as it provides the road map that ensures that all apsects for consideration are surfaced.

Thinkers.

Even when you are sorting out something for yourself, using the PULSE Frame to organize your thoughts can be useful.

Leaders.

PULSE Leadership is about being a conversation leader who is skilled in the art and the science of the conversations that lead to change through the acceptance of responsibility for change among their followers.
